The contents of Kit 23
Thursday 18th April: The next Foden kit arrived today and
on opening the box I discovered that it was not the cylinder as
planned. It would seem that the cylinder block castings have still
not arrived from the foundry and kit 23 has been brought forward to fill
the gap. As an additional precaution next months kits will be the
Lorry load platform and rear mudguards to allow time to machine the
cylinder.
While it is reassuring that ModelWorks have supplied a substitute kit
to keep the overall build on schedule it poses me problems due to my
extreme lack of space. The cab will build into a substantial
sub assembly that is best left off until the majority of the engine is
assembled. Due to its prominence, once painted, it will need to be
carefully stored to avoid damage. - I just don't have the room! I
have therefore decided to but this kit to one side and am unlike to touch
it until the majority of the build has been completed.
Despite lack of activity on this kit I am currently preparing for mammoth
paint session. My goal is to get Kits 7,8, 10 & 12 painted so
that I can permanently get my Foden on its wheels.
